The Craft of Herbal Fermentation - The Beginning
This month kicked off The Herbal Academy's The Craft of Herbal Fermentation course! I have been a student with Herbal Academy for a few years now and was super excited when they were getting ready to launch this course.
Well, this week I was finally able to start it...and it starts off with Herbal Beer!
Fermentation is a skill and art that I was never exposed to before...outside of a few little experiments here and there but was something I was really interested in. How my brain works is that I need someone walking me through the whole process (something you just can't always get through a blog post) and this course includes videos!
I ordered the supplies - list HERE and like those on our Instagram saw...was super excited when they started arriving. *Side note....after living overseas for a year where Amazon would take 2 weeks to deliver, 2 day delivery is freaking amazing and makes me feel like a little kid every arrival.
I will pop in from time to time here to blog about what fermenting I have going on over here...and would like to encourage you to join me. If you are already signed up for The Craft of Herbal Fermentation course let me know in the comments and share a link to your CoHF post.
If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry. You can still enroll and join me on this journey. After you sign up, be sure to come back to this post and let me know.
Check out my second lesson in Unit 1 (first lesson was using the online platform):
My plans are to make a Nettle beer...perhaps with a spot of Ginger!
Additional lessons are for mead, kombucha, water kefir, and lacto-fermented herbs and vegetables. When preparing for this course I learned that fermenting herbs, in some cases, helps to release some more of the beneficial minerals in them...like silica from horsetail which makes for healthy hair and nails.
As a blogger, I have been fortunate to be able to take the course for free (still have to buy supplies) but before I was contacted to have this option, I was ready to pay for it! Additionally, I am an affiliate of The Herbal Academy and by registering through any of the links above, I receive a small portion...this comes at no additional charge to you and helps support the mission of Raven and Oak.
