Sitting in the hospital or a classroom talking about childbirth is a thing of the past.
These childbirth classes get to the heart of birth. They connect you to your birth. They allow you and your partner to become a team in the birth.
In these classes we will not only cover labor, childbirth, postpartum, and breastfeeding but also herbs, aromatherapy, and flower essences.
These classes are kept small. 6 women and their partners at the fullest, to really allow you to feel comfortable. To feel nurtured. To feel welcome and heard.
This is a 6 week session. We meet every Tuesday night from 6-8 pm. This Late Summer Session begins August 7 and runs through September 11. It is designed for women in the last trimester.
The first 3 weeks are for the mothers only, the last 3 include partners.
Week 1 - Pregnancy
Here we will meet our circle. We will talk about our pregnancies so far and what is coming. We will discuss herbs and essential oils to use during this last part of pregnancy.
Week 2 - Surrendering
This week we will be discussing our thoughts and emotions on our upcoming labor. We will talk about flower essences and wrap up with the role of hormones in labor and how emotions play a role with them.
Week 3 - Connecting
This week is a little deeper in connecting with each other and ourselves. We will discuss fears we may be having and work together to release them. We will talk about what we are needing to make it through those last long week and feel capable of birthing our babies!
Week 4 - Comfort Techniques & Baby Plans
The nitty gritty of childbirth education - coping with labor. We will discuss all sorts of way to ride the contractions with positions, rebozo, the birth ball, water - and for those going to hospital, all about when to head to the hospital. We discuss the stages of labor and have an open discussion between the partners of their ideal birth and a baby plan.
Week 5 - Postpartum
This week we will talk all about the postpartum period and how to be sure you have a healing and holistic postpartum period. From what herbs to help with postpartum healing in which we create your own herbal blend to talking about food and visitors.
Week 6 - Breastfeeding and Baby Care
All about breastfeeding - most common positions, getting a good latch, herbs to help with lactation and relief. Then some baby care - diapering, swaddling, cord care - and putting together a wonderful baby powder.
